Smiley Jack-o-Boat is an original, ooak hand-crafted work of art by Dylan and Jo. Smiley Jack-o-Boat is signed and dated by the ehag artists-- Dylan Curry and Jo James of Cartbeforethehorse. Like each of the Cart Before the Horse creations, he is entirely hand painted.

8" x 12" Hand-sculpted from paper mache clay, Smiley Jack looks perfectly content to be adrift, and he is one happy little pumpkin.  Jack?s body is made of quilter?s muslin that has been painted and sanded, then painted and sanded again, giving the fabric a rich patina that feels like old leather.  His arms are button-jointed, allowing them to be posed. His paper mache boat sits snugly in a wooden stand.

 

 

This is a one of a kind creation by these very talented artists, and has become even more collectible as Dylan and Jo are currently producing and selling art in limited runs, as opposed to one of a kind pieces anymore.  I originally purchased this piece for $220 through Ehag Emporium in October 2010, and will use the proceeds to purchase some more work from these fine artists  :)  He is perfect for the Halloween art collector Valentine in your life.
