IMAGINEERING DISNEY America CONCEPT DESIGNS SITE MAP BK For Sale

This is a very cool and hard-to-find item for Imagineering collectors!! Featured is a large fold-open brochure booklet that was made by Imagineers to show what Disney America would entail when it was built (which, unfortunately, it never was). Back in 1993, Disney announced plans to build a history-themed park in Virginia called Disney's America. The park was designed so that guests could experience distinct periods in American history and examine the conflicts and successes that have marked the nation's passage from colony to world power. Plans were made and concepts were designed, but then a group of historians and environmentalists complained that the park would be too near to the Manassas Civil War battlefield and caused too many problems for Disney to continue with the project. However, before the project was halted, Imagineers that were involved in the planning and conceptual phase of Disney's America. This article talks about Disney Design and Development (DDD) and the WDI team together and the idea for the new park to open 30 miles west of Washington DC in 1998. Lists the Imagineers that were in charge of the project and about the tasks they were asked to do to research and learn about the history.
